(No, its not 42)
I just realized a few seconds ago that everything we do, every single action, every single feeling or emotion that we have, is just another way nature tries to prolong the human race.
Why do we feel pain?
So we can identify a problem with ourselves, and fix it, to enable us to be able to reproduce more.
Why do we enjoy good food?
Good food is generally richer, and richer food (with more nutrients and glucose) will better sustain us, thus enabling us to reproduce more, and produce healthier offspring.
Why do we learn?
So we may better protect ourselves from the various risks in this world.
Why do we compete with each other, and reward success?
Natural selection. The strongest, fastest, and smartest survive. duhh.

Why is sex enjoyable?
Do I really need to answer that?
Why are babies cute?
So that after having sex, people don't abandon their offspring to die somewhere, therefore increasing the human population. Of course, in today's society, this wouldn't happen much anyway, but I am 98% sure that if all babies were ugly, and people did not enjoy raising children, condoms would be a lot more popular.
The concept of three types of love is from the new testament. Although I am a catholic, I do not consider myself a very religious person, however, I think that in this case, the Bible is (mostly) correct in saying that there are three types of love.
Why do we feel Eros(erotic) love towards one another?
Why do we feel Agape(unconditional) love towards one another?
(This is the type of love that one has for his siblings or parents.)
Why do we feel Philos(friendly) love towards one another?
Imo, the love a man has for a woman (or man-man/woman-woman, if you roll that way >_>

, is a combination of all three types. Mainly Philos/Agape, except in an eros kinda way... Idk how to explain it. Eros love, by itself is not really love, just lust.
Now that I'm done ranting, consider this: These feelings we may feel for people, whether it be for a friend, your parents/children, or your lover, are all just tools that nature uses to prolong the human race. Eros: Kinda obvious, so that we have more sex. Agape: So that we protect one another. Philos: Same reason as Agape, just not as deep.
Truly depressing.
